Record Stand

Materials: UV-Coated Plywood

This client’s record collection had outgrown their current storage solution. Taking into consideration their budget and spacial limitations, we settled on this masonry inspired design.

Project Criteria:

  • Varied sized sections for record genres

  • Flatpack design for moving in the future

  • Staying within size requirement

Starting Point

The client brought me a sketch and we went from there.

Hand-drawn layout plan of a structure with dimensions marked as 40 inches for width and height, featuring various rectangular sections.

Collaborative Design

Based on his sketch, I presented a few options at different price points.

Three modular metal storage shelves arranged in different configurations.

Structural Decisions

The staggering of vertical supports and width of the shelves will help prevent sagging over time. Also giving him sections for genres.

A bookshelf filled with vinyl records and books, decorated with framed artwork and a globe-shaped lamp, with a potted plant on top.

Custom Touches

This angled leg creates an airy look, while still offering structural stability.

Hardware-free Design

Dog-bone and half-lap joints lock and slot the unit together without the need for hardware.
